Today the wife and I are going to her parents house for Slava. For the Americans out there Slava, loosely translated, is a Saints day. On a specific day in the year family and friends get together to celebrate a specific Saint. Celebrating means lots of eating and even more drinking, it’s usually a pretty good time. During this time of year it is Saint Nikolas that is celebrated. Don’t confuse this with Christmas because that doesn’t come until January. The day is usually determined based on the man’s birthday and since I wasn’t born a Serb I picked my Saint and since my birthday is around this time I picked Saint Nick. That, and my in-laws Slava is the same time, so I shouldn’t have to host for a long time!
