The wife and I have Slava coming up on Sunday.  We were sitting at the table tonight reminiscing about Slavas past and she reminded me of a song I came up with after my first Slava with her family.  It is sung to the tune of “Na na naaa na, na na naaa na, hey hey hey good byyyee”;

Super Slava, Super Slava, hey hey hey, Saint Niiiiick!

So, while we were feeling goofy we Serbo-fied another classic song.  In honor of the Christmas/Slava season the wife and I came up with our version of the 12 Days of Christmas for all of our Serbian family and friends out there that know Christmas is really on January 7th.  We give you the 12 days of Slava.

12   slavas in one day.

11   loaves of bread.

10  pounds of catfish.

   predjelo trays.

8    vruca rakijas.

7    days of posting.

6    glasses of tatas vino.

   hooouurr meeeeeeal.

   hustling hosts.

   frosty basements.

2    drunken kumovi.

    popular Saint!

Srecna Slava!!

  1. But should I send my Serb friends Christmas gifts now, or wait? Every year I’m not 100% certain. When I was engaged to a Greek guy, his mother like Jenki Christmas, so I didn’t wait. PLEASE HELP!
